Project King Lear 2016

This project is a kind of  experiment that how the artists could devise in creating something and what is possible to put it out for sharing with audiences.This is a new step for going to another area in the history of performance group Tuida since 2001, which has researched in the field of performance including theatre, dance and music. They were focusing on the body of performers and objet as an another tool of body. 

 

In this project, the processes of creating were divided to three steps; workshop, performance and exhibition. 
After choosing main source of creation, King Lear of Shakespeare, in the workshop 16 artists-actors and dancers- researched and tried some recipes with two directors, Tim Supple and Bae Yosup, for two weeks in the name of 'Anatomy of King lear'.

 

In the next step, 8 performers developed their ideas in three different section which should be related with specific spaces. They also had some inspiration from the spaces where some were installed by visual artists. After five weeks rehearsal they performed site specific performance in the space Tutbat Arts Farm, Hwacheon, Korea.

During  the process, performers, directors, visual artists, media artist shared new ideas which came from King Lear. They developed those  into the form of exhibition; installation, video, texts, etc. The space for Exhibition, Haeghwatang, which had been a public bathing place before but now abandoned and awating reconstruction.
